The European Confederation of Care Home Organisations was founded in 1989 in Brussels as an alliance of national private care and nursing home associations in Europe.
It is a non-profit organisation pursuing social, scientific, informative, and training objectives in the long-term care sector and care services for older people.
E.C.H.O. is based in Wommelgem and primarily pursues the following objectives:
Fair and equitable terms among care providers in the long-term care sector
High quality standards throughout Europe and a simultaneous reduction in bureaucracy
Recognition of the eldercare sector as a productive economic factor
